Boost Brain Power By Reading More
Turning a few pages keeps your mind sharp for life.

It’s no fiction! Cozying up with a good book shields your brain from decline.
Researchers theorize that you can read books for a healthy brain. ere are two facts that probably won’t surprise you: Reading makes you smarter, and the more reading you do, the better.
Why this is so and how the magic happens, though, is quite interesting.
In a paper called What Reading Does for the Mind, Anne E. Cunningham, associate professor of cognition and development at the University of California, Berkeley, makes the case that reading:
increases vocabulary more than talking or direct teaching;
substantially boosts general knowledge while decreasing the likelihood that misinformation will be absorbed; and
helps keep our memory and reasoning abilities intact as we age.
So Pick Up A Book As A Toast To Your Health!

Okay it’s almost 2009. Wow! A whole nother year has passed. What happened to it? Was that really a whole 12 months? Okay here we go again. Each year we make the same old resolutions. Why do we do this to ourselves, when we know full well each year that passes, resolutions become harder and harder to keep!
As we succumb to the repetition each year to create new beginnings to the incompletions of last year; we find ourselves overloaded with even more stuff to add on our plate of life. This year let’s do something a little different. Let’s make a list that makes pure since. A list we can actually live up to. A list that makes peace not stress. Flip the typical resolutions for a more doable year. This will make for a great 2009…
1. Get Out of Debt Flip it spend less, save 10% of each pay check to pay off old debt
This is going to be a hard one to keep, with the economy going the way it is going. People are using their credit cards for basic purchases, like gas, food, etc. With the fear of losing their jobs or even their homes. This will be the number one fear of many Americans. However, 10% is an easier task to reach for any budget.
2. Stop smoking Flip it Each time you buy a pack, add the cost of that pack in the bank. In 30 days you’d be discussed of the money you spend just to kill yourself.
This one should be fairly easy to keep. With governments taxing customers, and the legislation that makes smokers feel so uncomfortable, it should be the one anybody can keep.
3. Get Fit Flip it Just do it! We all know it doesn’t happen over night so take your time and just do the damn thing!
This is an excellent habit to get into. Once you start it, you will want to continue until you can not.
4. Lose Weight Flip it In america we have all the availability at our finger tips to keep weight off so excuses are not acceptable.
It is amazing how many overweight people there are in America. I was a physically fit person until I moved to the North East. Than I ballooned up to 286 lbs and had high blood pressure. It has been a long battle, but the weight is coming down.
5. Enjoy Life More Flip it Life it to short not to enjoy. Love yourself, life well and be happy.
The key here is to find something you love, and do it until you are an expert. You can than teach other people what to do and hopefully start a business doing what you love. With a good grounding in marketing you can always find customers.
6. Quit Drinking Flip it Keep drinking, just do it in moderation and NOT every damn day!
If drinking is a problem for you than you should seek medical advice and attention. Alcholol is an addictive drug, and you will need some serious attention.
7. Get Organized Flip it Between Walmart, Targer and Office Depot there is really NO reason to wait to organize. Go get a Martha Stewart dvd (well before the prison days) and get the job done!
With the help of a PDA (many cell phones now have these), getting organized is so much simpler. In the old days we had to use index cards and brick tablets. These PDAs help with the mundane stuff, in order that you can get on with the serious things in live.
8.. Learn Something New Flip it The World Wide Web has a host of info to grasp. schedule time for yourself each day to learn something that way or go take an hour class at a community college. It can be done!
If you love to learn this is so exciting. Why should the young be the only ones to learn? In the past year or so, I have taken up art. I love it, it is so relaxing.
9. Spend more time with the Family Flip it Scheduling is everything so set aside time for this too.
This is where you have to think of quality time, and how you should spend it with your family. What can you and your family do together. Hold a little family council, and see what they like to do together.
10. Help Others Flip it think of helping others as a karma boost. What goes around come around. Help others and it WILL come back to you.
This can be an rewarding endeavor. It does necessarily mean doing things for the low income and the needy. It also can mean helping young kids learn a sport, or recreational activity, etc.
So, that is the flip side of the Top Ten New Years Resolutions. Write them down and see how successful you are at keeping them. I hope that you have more success than I do.
